We are excited to announce that, over the weekend, ownership of Continuum passed from Nova/Paul Investments Capital Management to Bloomsbury. Bloomsbury are a prestigious, innovative and independent-minded publisher who are planning to grow the academic and professional arm of their business with Continuum as the cornerstone. Acquiring Continuum is a significant investment for them and a big step forward in this strategy.
Here on the Continuum Literary Studies list we have a couple of reasons to be especially excited by this development: Bloomsbury - which celebrates its 25th year this year - has been one of the most inventive independent fiction publishers around, home to the Harry Potter books and such titles as Khaled Hosseini's The Kite Runner and Howard Jacobson's 2010 Man Booker Prize winning The Finkler Question among many other titles. Even more pertinently, the move will see us joining forces with two of the most powerful and recognisable names in Literary publishing: the Arden Shakespeare and Methuen Drama lists.
We'll keep you posted on developments as they occur. In the meantime, you can click here to see the Bloomsbury press release, and here for an article published in The Bookseller about the acquisition.
